Greg has had a meandering career path over the years. In addition to being a photographer, Greg is a self professed “recovering lawyer.” Before he went to law school, he studied botany. Thus, Greg’s interest in and love of flora actually pre-dates his photography skills. Flowers feature especially prominently in Greg’s work, with both standard and macro lenses capturing stunning shapes and colors.

View in physical galleries!

Greg’s favorite place to photograph flowers in the metro area is the Albuquerque Botanic Garden, part of the ABQ BioPark.  During many summer days you can find Greg crouched low, stretched high, or contorted into a pretzel with his lens getting up close and personal with one of the garden’s many spectacular blossoms.  Passersby who stop to see what he’s up to will most likely find themselves pulled into a conversation. During which, they could expect to be treated to the flower’s scientific name, random botanical trivia and remembrances about that one time he found it growing wild in the desert outside Deming 17 years ago…

You can view (and also purchase!) many of Greg’s flower portraits in the Tularosa Basin Gallery in Carrizozo, New Mexico, where he is a featured local artist.  If you want to check out the Albuquerque Botanic Garden, consider stopping for a meal at the Shark Reef Café while you’re there.  There are over a dozen large-scale prints of Greg’s photos from around the ABQ BioPark hanging on the walls, of course including many of his stunning floral pieces.
